NGK was established in 1936 with the production of their first product - NGK spark plugs.
In 1949 NGK comes out as a producer of technical ceramics for spark plugs, developing tools for ceramic cutting and starting the development of elements with a copper core.
In 1959 they establish "Ceramica E Velas (bujías) de Ignicao NGK do Brasil LTDA." the first external production unit, followed by Nittoku Seisakusho and the Komaki factory.
Between the 70’s and 90’s the company expanded worldwide, having spark plug factories in almost every country, adding products like O2 sensors, bio-ceramics, lambda probes, electronics and elements with iridium.
From 2000 they started producing spark plugs with the ‘Iridium IX’ technology and expanded their catalogue to feature components that would complement the growing trend of electronic elements for vehicles.
