Honda was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1949, in the coastal city of Hamamatsu, under the name Honda Technical Research Institute.

The company was able to enter the market by powering a bicycle with a small auxiliary motor.

The company's motto has always been "to offer products that contribute to the improvement of people's mobility and the well-being of society". In 1959, the American Honda Motor Company was founded in California, USA, serving as proof of their expansion to other continents. 

Nowadays, Honda is a leading company in the production of motorcycles and manufacturing of other vehicles and mass products worldwide. Honda sells on average 13 million motorcycles a year, positioning itself as a pioneer and most successful corporation in the world of motorcycles.
