Smooth, straight-tooth gears eliminate friction and reduce power consumption!
With the new SECOND ROLLER GEAR secondary gears, Malossi technicians have achieved the objective of reducing to a minimum the power losses due to friction inside the final reduction gearbox, making available to the wheel the maximum power transmitted by the engine. The innovative element of this product is the introduction in the gearbox, located at the end of the engine casing, of two needle bearings that support a special straight-toothed secondary shaft. This solution transforms a rotary movement with direct steel/aluminium contact (see original system) into a friction rotation on steel rollers. The advantage of this innovation is also given by the ease of assembly, since it is sufficient to insert the two needle bearings present in the SECOND ROLLER GEAR assembly into their original housings.
ATTENTION: It should be noted that Piaggio has modified the mounting of the secondary gears of ø 18 and ø 17.67 respectively on itsscooters since the beginning of 1998. Since Piaggio itself is not able to give exact information about the starting dates of the serial mounting of the new gears on the various scooter models, nor the engine numbers to which they refer, the only possibility for the moment is to check the gears after disassembling them.
